It sure is cold over here...

Hi my name is Andrew Bertram, I am from Saskatchewan... (pause for laughter) It seems like most of you already know each other, so I thought I should introduce myself. I am 18 and I learned about Kaleo first at Youth Quake last year. I really didn't give it much thought, in fact me and my friend were asked to attend the information sessions and we deided that we couldn't think of anything more boring. Well now here I am. Anyway the Kaleo course came across m path again with information in the mail. I knew that I really wanted to do a one year course to start off with so I did consider it as an option. After much prayer I started pursuing application for this program. The interesting thing is that, the only other school that I was considering has very recently decided to shut their doors after many, many years. Talk about God nudgning you in the right direction! I'm not really sure what God has in store for me so far away from home and I can admitt that I am very nervous, but still really excited. I'm just glad that I have a chance to talk to some of you before next fall.

Outnumbered?? Actually we have so far accepted the same number of guys as girls, and the application I have in hand right now is a guy! Maybe the girls are just better writers...

Hey Andrew, I'm glad to hear that someone who came to an information session is actually coming to Kaleo! I'm Viktor Karklins from K-4 (sitting in the lodge at camp Qwanoes as I write this) and Jason Derkson has it right, be excited for Kaleo -it's truly amazing and life changing. I hope to get to meet you guys next year because meeting Kaleo, past present and future is amazing (we're basically already friends Andrew and we've never met before). Be nervous if you have to, but don't let it get in the way of your excitement!

jimbad, michelle just blew your hypothesis out of the water.
i had a similar nudging as you, andrew. i got waitlisted from the college i had really wanted to go to. so i guess i HAD to go to kaleo. when people i know get waitlisted, i tell them that it was the best thing to ever happen to me.
and when we were getting ready for kaleo we had no blog, only some people's emails. and there was only one other guy on that list, mike fehr, and we emailed each other a couple times, both thinking "this guy is the complete opposite of me, we will never get along." how things can change at kaleo. this fall he flew down here to minneapolis to go driving around north america, spending 40 hours in the car with me.

and i on the other hand am a proud saskatoonian (where are you from?) and i was scheduled to fly out to capernray on thedis island which ironically is only what 20mins and a ferry ride away from camp?
but for some reason i had a mental breakdown two weeks before i left and ended up switching to kaleo out of the blue. 10 days and i could have had a very different bibleschool experience. Both would have been good i know that.. but this one scared me more so i did it.
