Hey There Everyone!

Hey!
My name is Jenny and I am a grade 12 drama major at the Langley fine arts school. I've grown up in a non Christian home but still a good home! Sometime around grade four my sister became a Christian and married my Brother in law. They both became Sr. Youth leaders at Ross Road Community Church, and when I was old enough to attend, in grade 9, they invited me out. I loved it so much I began to go regularly. Later on in the year the youth group started to have regular small group nights. We studied Bible stories and read verses, which was so all completely new to me, at first I was nervous to go and sometimes didn't want to go because I was afraid I was going to miss pronounce something or be asked a question I didn't know. But as time went on instead of being nervous I became extremely curious about the deeper meaning behind these stories I was learning about, and especially about the end times. My brother in law gave me a Bible and I began reading on my own, writing down pages of questions and getting together with him for coffee to ask them all! It was really cool and I began to thirst for even more knowledge and this relationship with Jesus I had been learning about.
One night I was asked by my small group leader if I was a Christian, and I didn't know what to say, so I said yes, which was a lie but I was… I guess ashamed to say that I wasn't because somewhere I knew that all of the things I had been learning about were right and true! But I just couldn't seem to give my life to him, hand over that trust.
I was too afraid. You see I go to a public school where Christianity is often mocked and made fun of by the majority, including my closest friends. I was deeply; fearfully afraid that if I gave my life to Jesus and became a Christian I would lose my friends and I would be alone.
That summer 2004 I went to our church’s family camp. All weekend people who I had never met were asking me to come play games with them, eat at their table, work on a project with them or be on their team. Many others would genuinely come up to me and ask me how my day was, or even who I was and want to get to know me. That weekend God showed me that I would never be alone, these people as my Church community would always be there to support me and pray for me and just be my friend.
I spent the rest of that summer at my cabin reading my bible battling doubts. When I came home I went to a worship night held by CLA with my Brother in law. I was so done with being confused and afraid I just let it all go and put it into the hands of God. That was August 28 2004, the day I became a Christian.
Since then it’s been awesome! I still have all of my same friends but some new ones as well. Sometimes it’s hard to watch them fall knowing that if they just accepted Christ they wouldn't live the way they do now in fact they wouldn’t even want to.
God has given me so many opportunities in the last couple of years its sweet! I've gotten to fully admire his creation by doing a Senior Leadership program at camp Squeah where we went on a three day hike around some truly amazing mountains and marshes! I've gotten to cop-council two cabins of girls and help them out! I'm now a leader for the middle school youth group at my church. I also was a leader for a week long adventure camp that my church put on! It’s so cool the things I’ve already gotten to do and being accepted into Kaleo I know is going to bring on a whole new set of sweet things! I can't wait to be in the awesome atmosphere at Kaleo and learn and study the word of God! What could be better honestly!
Well I’m super looking forward to meeting and talking to you all soon!
Jenny

I finished the last english exam today!!! now just the provincial! How is your guys's coming? Isn't it awesome how we're finishing up schoolwork and then we're DONE highschool like there's english DONE!!! Jenny are you going to work at Squeah again? a guy from my youth group worked there, Tyler...I'm going to apply for Qwanoes this weekend, I'm pretty stocked!
coffee sounds sweet! however, scotty doesn't like coffee (?) but anywho ya we should!
um i had my english mock and so far i didn't do very well but my teacher isn't fully done ,marking yet so while see....i'm realy not excited for the porv. though:S
hey ya! i know who tyler is, he did slt the year before me and he counceled while i was doing slt! sweet deal! o thats awesome your applying for Qwanoes! how long ar you going to go for?!
Scotty man, no coffee at all?? Ah well we got all next year to get you addicted=)=)
Yeah Jenny, Tyler's cool...I love this youth group I'm at cause so many of the people are camp people from all different camps, where as all my past churches, I've been the only camp person so people don't understand the things I experience and why I get so excited about it!! I'll be going for the whole summer so like 3rd or 4th week of June until August and then should have a week inbetween camp and kaleo...it'll be amaazing, going to apply for senior counselor and hopefully do some filling in as assistent head waterfront but we shall see bout that one! Whatcha going to apply for at Squeah? or are you going to come to Qwanoes???
hey, o thats really cool so many people from your youh are camp people! What is the name of your church?
i'm not sure if i'm going to b able to do camp this summer beacsue i'm going to have to work:( but i have been think about comming to Qwanoes..but we shall see i suppose!
hey jenny!
great to see you carying through with the plan to join the kaleo comunity! it was great to meet you at briercrest and i am looking forward to seeing God work in your life!
God Bless
PS Craig is one heck of a guy!!
I go to Coquitlam Alliance church so we got Tyler fro Squeah, green bay people, pioneer, a bunch from kawkawa (sp?) before it shut down so it's awesome, I'm the only qwanoes staff but it's all good!! you should totally come to Q, even just for a week! What is Squeah like? like is there water activities and ropes course stuff or...?
o nice! mabye i shall...but um well squeah is pretty traditional when it comes to its activities. We have archery, nature, canoeing, swimming, hiking, an over nighter trip, drama, and games room! nothing crazy spectacular like Q!
hey jon! Thanks! i'm pretty stoked about it thats for sure!:) yes i sure do agree craig is pretty great! Have an awesome semester!!!!
lol soooorry guys..k its not that i dont like coffee, i dont even remember what it tastes like lol, i dunno my moms just been like coffees bad!! pretty much for my whole life...so yeah..mebe i will try it one day....
ya I was looking at the Squeah site, looks like pretty natural stuff which is sweet, looks a whole lot different than Qwanoes though! That's a huge thing I love about Qwanoes, the non stop action and excitement, but I've also come to love the "offseason" of fall winter and spring where it's quiet and peaceful there! So pretty much I love Q=) How many campers would be at Squeah at a time? Q is about 350 and then up to 200 staff, it's intense. Weirdest thing is being out late at night when everyone's asleep and it's dead silence yet there's 500 people there!!! Crazy well that's all I got...hope you guys are doing good!
Ya, Q is pretty much awesome anytime of the year. So, when did we start calling Qwanoes, Q? and why? So I hope to see everyone at missions fest
i think there is about 200 people there at a time.
i dunno when it started being called Q, but i'm thankful cuz i always have to check how to spell it...um if you havn't already notcied....i'm the worst speller in the world..however in defence sometimes its just typos.....
I agree, so much easier and quicker to type camp Q! That sounds like a cool size at Squeah. I think it's cool that there's smaller camps and bigger ones, different people like different kinds of camps. I hate the whole this camp is better than that camp stuff...sure it's fun to joke around but like if we're all reaching kids for Christ, then it's all good!! I guess it's kinda the same rivalry as between church denominations though, What do you guys think about that stuff?
I'm just going to hop in... Jenny, Camp Q is called camp Q.. well because everything starts with Q! Qrok, Q-town, Quixotic, Q-Awesome.... even peoples names begin with Q after being there to long...and high fives for bad speelers! LoL!
~Kristen
Kristen, I was the one that posed the question at first. I know we call it Camp Q but we have somehow shortened it to just Q. Chris, I think that I'm going to have to agree with you on this one. People saying that one camp or one denomination is better than another is just pointless.
Don't worry I can read :D!

um so hey what days and times are people going to mssions fest?
I'll be there on Friday from 3:30pm on but i'm an actioneer for club 67 so I have to meet someplace at 5:45 and I'm planning on being there sometime on Saturday but I'm not sure when, again, i'm doing actions for club 67 so I think we are meeting at the same time again.
Hey! I think I'll be at the friday night youth rally and then sat I'm doing something for lunch with a youth group from like 10:30 prob till not later than 1 and then I'll just be finding something to do and then most likely be at the youth rally that night as well!
what time are the youth rally's? and what are they?
the youth rallies are at 7...usually wanna get there early, not sure what time the doors open but probaly at like 6 or 6:30...and it's like a youth service with A LOT of people like I dunno over a 1000 I think at the sat night one usually. Trinity Western worship team leads worship and then they have a speaker. The speakers a guy from Britain, you can check it out on the website, http://www.missionsfestvancouver.ca/conf2007.cfm
Hello all! well i'm sorry i missed you all at missions fest it just didn't work out for me this weekend:( um sooo hmm random question time! if you could go to any concert which one would you go to?
hmmm that's a gooder Jenny!! oh man I dunno...I've heard TobyMac is really good live, I don't think I could pick one, would love to see David Crowder, Jeremy Camp, Skillet, Kutless and oh yeah U2 would pretty much be amazing...here's another question, what have you been to?? I've seen a few that were amazing! Newsboys (waaaaaaaay back for Step up to the Microphone), Starfield, Hillsong United...
GRITS!!!! HAWK NELSON!!! SWITCHFOOT!!! top 3 lol...ive been to kutless, meh..i didnt even mash for that one...starfield was sweet...but yeah!! lol just thought id throw my opinion in there.
well i went to YC in edmonton a couple years ago so i've seen hillsong, hawk nelson, toby mac, grits, tree 63, TFK. and i went to the switchfoot concert, and i've seen amanda falk. and toby mac and grits were definitly the best performers! they had like acrobatics! jummping off massive amps! it was sweet!
if i could see any concert however i think i would have to go with grits or hawk nelson.. and i'm seeing starfield in ike a month!!! so stoked!!!!
Oh man I really want to go to YC some year=) That's what I've heard about toby mac!!! it must be amazing!! Where's Starfield playing at? I heard they are actually living in Abbotsford, anyone else heard that one?!? I found a new taste of music!! this group called Rescue that was at missions fest, 4 guys that just sing and do everything by mouth, I dunno what you call it but it's sweet. this one guy can make the most amazing drum sounds with his mouth! i was impressed
hey ya i've heard of a band like that that has no instruments but makes the sounds with thier mouths that is pretty sweet! and yes starfield is living in abby, as a matter of fact scotty and i's youth leader is their band manager! they are playing a rush in febuary!
I'm not going to lie, Starfield's concert was amazing! I loved it... (ps: never go moshing with my youth pastor).. Anyway, I have tickets to see Relient K when they are here in April and I'm pretty much really stoked for that... I've saw Switchfoot a few years ago, and it was okay, I was surprized by the number of non-christians there... Anyway, as for Jenny's quesion, I would definatly go see Starfield again (they are coming in May or something...), TFK would be amazing, and Chris Tomlin or Casting Crowns. Pretty random mix.. but hey I'm a random person...
~Kristen
