Its ARRRRRRLS, ARRLS, ARRUUUUUULS, sup Lafave
Hey all my Kaleo friends. Its good to read about some of your lives. Kurtis you are all over the place and your going tree planting again this summer, that's awesome. Sometimes tree planting is a job where you can get so angry and hate your job while you plant and wonder, "Why did I ever decide to do this?" and yet at the end of the day, sigh, gulp back almost almost a liter of water and say, "That was a good day!" Remember to eat those carrots for good eyes.
Well friends my time has ended at Metro Ministries, it was probably one of the most difficult choices to make in life, and I guess I didn't make my choice too professionally, nevertheless I am back in CANADA! Yeah I like Canada, I'm currently working at the bike co-op in Hamilton again where we as Andrew (Staff) puts it, "Redeem old, abandoned and abused bikes". It has been great except for the lack of heat in the shop on these cold winter days.
I'm really excited for this summer, we plan to have a trike bike in the warmer months. It will basically be a mobile bike shop where we plan to bike around town and fix/maintain peoples bikes, show them how etc. We want to get involved with the Salvation Army Soup Van going to its 3 locations and provide our tools for the people on bikes there. We are also planing to get involved with some public schools for a after school program on bike fixing. It's exciting.
Also in Hamilton there is a program called City Kidz which does much like Metro in NY, so I am very excited to be a volunteer for them! I am also trying to get a part time job at a local bike shop so I can advance my mechanical skills on newer bikes.I'm pretty pumped about what I'm doing, now I just pray that God will bless it.
Oh on another note I was made aware of this really cool verse in the bible Heb 13 "Let brotherly love continue. Do not forget to entertain strangers, for by so doing some have unwittingly entertained angels." I think its time we stop worrying about 'awkward moments' (which is way over rated by too many people!)step out of our comfort zones, start meeting and getting to know some strangers in our communities, letting God work through us and in so doing entertain the angels. Inspiring isn't it? I think so.
