2 weeks!

Hey guys! I got accepted awhile ago but now finally I have the time to write on here!
Well my name is Alexandra Glass, and I live in Calgary AB, I'm 18 years old and have one older brother.
I actually just got back from spending 4 months in Europe. I was going to Capernwray Bible School in Austria and then travelled after that. It was an incredible experience to learn more about Jesus and spend hours in the word of God , building community with people I had never met but realized I had so much in common with. It was an amazing adventure that both challenged me and encouraged me in my walk with God. I have grown so much over the past year and look forward to continue to grow in my walk with Jesus and meet new people who also love God. I am so excited to see what this year holds for us all and how God will use us.
Can't wait to see you guys!
Only 1 and a half more weeks!!

oooh, I'm supposed to put a title!

sorry folks, im a bit of a noob at blogging. I'll learn :P
Hey guys!

Rob Bancroft here, from Minto New Brunswick. I found out I get to go to Kaleo on this past Friday. It's been pretty rushed, but God's hand has really been evident in how things came together that I would be able to attend.

I grew up in a Christian home and first prayed with my mom in the kitchen at age 5. I came to begin understanding what it meant to be follower of Christ as I grew up in the church, and rededicated my life to Him at age 14 at a summer camp (where I now work). High school was good to me, I was never overly rebellious.

My first year of university was exceptionally rough. I'll tell you all about it someday I'm sure. Now I'm coming to Kaleo to try and focus completely on God and His will for my life. That's pretty much my past in a nutshell...looking forward to meeting you guys!

Peace

Prayer Team List and Stuff

We can't wait to see all of you here in less than a month! Just a reminder that we would love to receive your prayer team list by tomorrow if possible (August 17). If that is not possible, please just send it as soon as you can. We are busy putting together schedules and plans, and you are much on our thoughts and in our prayers. Please note that there is lots of info in the links on the right side of this page: the acceptance info and Student Life Handbook we sent you, etc.

In addition, I have just posted to the right an info sheet about our first outtrip of the year, in fantastic Strathcona Park smack in the middle of Vancouver Island. This will remind you of what you need to bring with you and why, and what the trip is about. We have decided to offer you an optional trip into Victoria on September 15th, which will allow you to visit stores such as Mountain Equipment Co-op and pick up the extras you need.

Please let us know if you have any questions!

Kelsey's coming to Kaleo!!

Hey everybody! I got accepted into Kaleo a while ago and now I finally have some time to write something on here! My name is Kelsey Poetker, I’m almost 18, and I live in Edmonton, AB. I heard about Kaleo through my 2 older sisters, Apryl & Amanda, who worked at Camp Qwanoes last summer. It sounded like an awesome program and so I applied. I'm really excited to be going and I think it will be hard coming home after living on Vancouver Island and meeting so many amazing people! I look forward to seeing how God will work in each of our lives and how He will transform people into who He wants them to be!

I grew up in a Christian family and accepted Jesus Christ into my heart when I was 3 or 4 yrs old. Since then I wouldn’t say that I have ever fallen far from God, but I have definitely been too “luke warm” at times. I really want to grow closer to God and fully understand His plan for my life, which is the main reason why Kaleo appeals to me so much.

Soccer is my favorite sport to play and watch, but I also really enjoy kayaking, snowboarding, wakeboarding, and surfing. I love to sing and play piano, but I also play some violin and am learning how to play the guitar. I'm also very interested in is other languages and cultures. Last summer I spent 6 weeks in Guadalajara, Mexico, learning Spanish at the University. Along with Spanish, I took high school German & French and if anyone is willing, I would love to practice speaking these languages with them!

I have worked at a couple of different jobs in the last few years. Two years ago I began taking care of a 14 yr old boy who has Cerebral Palsy. It has taught me a lot and made me grateful for the basic things in life. The other job I've had for the last 2 yrs is as a Sunday School teacher for the 3&4 yr olds at my Church. This is another place where I've learned a lot, but also had lots of fun. This summer I am working with kids at a city run program in the playground. I enjoy the job because I love kids and it is fun to play games and do crafts with them all day!

I am really excited to meet all of you guys in a few weeks and I hope you all have an awesome rest of the summer!

Summer life...

Hey Everyone, Well I thought it was about time I got back on here! It has been a while but I'm just at home, at the end of my 3 days off, and heading back to Qwanoes tomorrow morning. I've been reading all of your guys' posts and am getting so excited for Kaleo..It's coming so so quick! wow=) So this summer for me has been incredible. It is hard to describe it, but I've been challenged in so many ways, each week has been a new challenge, I've grown in so many areas too. I've been challenged with connecting with campers, and in working with other counselors/ having a CIT working with me as well, and man so much more. It's all been lots and lots of fun. I feel like I've grown and matured so much in the past 6 weeks. It really is the life, counseling kids, then I've been lifeguardind, sailing and driving the boats in the afternoons.....rough life!I hope you all are well, Anyone planning on coming to Qwanoes to visit??

Prayer Request!!!

Hello Everyone! I was just wondering if you guys could all pray for me right now. Things are not going well with my job, my managers are not being very cool and it is really frustrating. Right now I am working maybe once a week and I really need more hours then that! I am trusting that God will provide me with what I need to be in Kaleo this September, and your prayers about it would be FANTASTIC!!!! Thanks!
